This contemporary house in Gurgaon has a sinuous envelope with wide overhangs that provide shading for the hot Eastern and Western sun, and opens up to the North and South. The underside of the ceiling is clad in eepay wood planks . Extensive low-e glazing affords views to the North. Good natural cross ventilation is provided when the large sliding glass doors are opened to allow cool breezes to flow through the spaces. Recycled timber used externally for decking reduces heat gain.
Equitably Prodigal
Upon entering through the main door frame, the space opens up to reveal the swimming pool and the public living areas of the house with a magnificent spiral cantilevered staircase in combination of wood & glass. On the ground floor are the master bedroom and several ample social spaces, as well as a winter garden, kitchen, sauna, etc. The upper floor is the children’s realm, comprising a living room, bedrooms and activity zone.
The enclosed public spaces open towards the garden through a channel by the north. The house is preceded by a paved esplanade built to prolong the approach of the visitor towards the access, where the aquatic piece gains a major presence. The strict character of the house arises from two settings first, the need to preserve the regular warmth of the house, which translates into a pathway that runs along the entire length of the house.
Eepay wood is an important material , which is used as decking for the balconies & indoor pathway and Finally, the house includes various elements of timber such as the main entrance door and the sun louvers that conceal the service areas.
